MTNL Leads India's IPTV Service in Mumbai and New Delhi

India's state-owned MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam) is set to offer the nation's first commercial IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) service as of November 2006, first in Mumbai and then in New Delhi. Currently MTNL collaborates with IOL Broadband for the content and with Aksh Optic and UT Starcom for the delivery platform. Subscribers will be able to access 50 channels initially, which will be expanded to 100 in the near future.
